Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 23, 2026 Last updated: May 20, 2026
Moving On is operated by It’s a Dog! Software, LLC, a Texas limited liability company (“we”, “us”, “our”). We provide a mobile and web application that helps two people inventory, negotiate, and settle shared belongings. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over your data.
By creating an account or using Moving On, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information. Email address and display name. You may optionally set a password.
- Session content. Items you add (name, description, category, estimated value, labels), photos you upload for AI scanning, proposals you make, and settlement reports you generate.
- Communication. If you contact support, we receive the contents of your message and your email address.
Information collected automatically
- Device and log data. IP address, device type, operating system, app version, and timestamps of requests. We use this to operate the service, diagnose errors, and prevent abuse.
- Push notification token. If you enable push notifications, your device’s push token is stored so we can deliver notifications you have opted in to.
- Audit log. We record account and session events (for example, “session created”, “item added”, “round completed”) for security and troubleshooting.
- Error and crash diagnostics. When the app or our API encounters an error, our error monitoring provider collects: stack trace, app version, operating system and device model, IP address, and breadcrumbs (recent in-app actions such as screen navigations and button taps leading up to the error). On the mobile app, sessions that contain an error also include a brief screen replay in which all text and images are automatically masked. See Section 3 for the provider.
Information we do not collect
- We do not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or cross-app tracking. (We use a third-party error monitoring service for crash diagnostics only — see Section 3.)
- We do not collect your precise location.
- We do not collect contacts, calendar data, or microphone input.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- Create and authenticate your account (magic-link email sign-in).
- Operate the core features of the service: inventory, negotiation, settlement reports.
- Send you transactional emails (magic links, invitations) and push notifications you have opted in to.
- Process in-app purchases.
- Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and technical problems.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
3. Third Parties That Process Your Data
Moving On relies on a small number of service providers (“processors”) to operate. These providers process data on our behalf under contract and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
| Provider | Purpose | Data shared |
|---|---|---|
| Anthropic (Claude Vision API) | AI identification of items in uploaded photos | Photos you upload for scanning |
| RevenueCat | In-app purchase processing and receipt validation | Session identifier, participant identifier, purchase receipts |
| Amazon Web Services (AWS) | Application hosting, database, file storage, and email delivery | All account and session data; outgoing email (magic links, invitations) |
| Sentry | Crash and error monitoring | Stack traces, app/OS/device version, IP address, breadcrumbs (recent in-app actions), and—only on mobile sessions that contain an error—a screen replay with all text and images masked |
We will update this list if we add new processors. Check the “Last updated” date at the top of this policy.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to respond to valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Moving On, our users, or others.
4. How Your Data Is Stored and Secured
- Data is stored in Amazon Web Services (AWS) data centers in the United States.
- All traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
- Database connections use TLS. Passwords (when set) are stored using a one-way hash; we cannot recover them.
- Secrets and credentials are stored in AWS Secrets Manager with least-privilege access controls.
- We restrict employee access to production data to what is necessary for operations and support.
No system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data using industry-standard practices.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
- Active sessions. Data is retained while your session is active.
- Archived sessions. When you archive a session, its data is retained so you can reference it later.
- Account deletion. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing support@movingonapp.com from the email address on your account. We will delete your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (for example, financial records related to purchases).
- Photos. Uploaded photos may be automatically removed after a period of inactivity if they are not associated with a confirmed item.
- Backups. Deleted data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 30 days before being overwritten.
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights:
- Access. Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction. Request that we correct inaccurate information. You can edit your display name and session content directly in the app.
- Deletion. Request that we delete your account and data.
- Portability. Export a copy of your settlement report as a PDF, or request your data in a portable format.
- Objection / restriction. Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.
- Withdraw consent. Where processing is based on consent (for example, push notifications), you may withdraw consent at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@movingonapp.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents have the rights above, plus the right to know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland residents (GDPR / UK GDPR)
Our legal bases for processing are: (a) performance of a contract (to provide the service you requested), (b) our legitimate interests (to secure and improve the service), (c) consent (for optional features like push notifications), and (d) compliance with legal obligations. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
7. Age Requirement and Children’s Privacy
Moving On is intended for adults. Under our Terms of Service, you must be at least 18 years old to use the service.
In addition, Moving On is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact support@movingonapp.com and we will delete it.
8. International Transfers
If you access Moving On from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using the service, you consent to this transfer. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice (for example, an in-app banner or email to the address on your account). Continued use of Moving On after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
